Lärandemål (efter fullgjord kurs ska studenten kunna)
- describe and discuss the opportunities and barriers associated with cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary product development work;
- describe, discuss the similarities and differences between the processes, methods and tools that characterize industrial design, design engineering and human factors design respectively and analyse the consequences for product development and design;
- describe and reflect upon state-of-the-art in product development research, in terms of topics as well as research methods;
- describe the differences between research for, on and through design and apply the categorisation to descriptions of research work;
- describe a model/theory of the student's own choice and draw conclusions as to its relevance for product development and design work;
Innehåll
The content of the course encompasses the following topics:
- processes, staffing, methods and tools;
- cross-disciplinary product development;
- cross-cultural product development;
- research traditions and state-of-the-art;
- research on, for and by design;
- theories of relevance for industrial design engineering
Organisation
The course is organized as a series of lectures, seminars and exercises/assignments.
