Behörighet:
För kurser inom Chalmers utbildningsprogram gäller samma behörighetskrav som till de(t) program kursen ingår i.
Kursspecifika förkunskaper
Knowledge comparable to years 1-3 on the Mechanical, Automation & Mechatronics or Industrial Design Engineering programs, including basic 3D CAD skills.
Syfte
The course Advanced Computer Aided Design aims to provide an overview of the area IT support for product geometry development with focus on the use of CAD and CAT (Computer Aided Tolerancing) systems.
Lärandemål (efter fullgjord kurs ska studenten kunna)
After the course the students shall be able to
* Evaluate the need for and potential of using IT support for the geometry process
* Create parameterized, rule-based solid models of parts and assemblies
* Describe the functionality of CAD and CAT systems
* Describe fundamental mathematical and computer science methods used in modern CAD systems
* Describe fundamental mathematical methods used in modern CAT systems
* Use CAD, CAT and PDM systems as tools in an integrated product development processes
* Adapt CAD, CAT and PDM systems to solve a specific task in cooperation with other enterprise IT systems
* Describe important trends in the area of IT support for geometry development
Innehåll
The course contents cover six basic components of a geometry modelling system:
* The industrial need for IT support for product geometry development
* Theories and systems for geometry modelling
* Theories and systems for Computer Aided Tolerancing (CAT) systems
* Methods for modelling geometry-related processes and information
* Methods and systems for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
* Methods and systems for geometry data communication
Organisation
The course is organized around a series of lectures and a project work. The project work is a large part of the course where the student will train their skills on using CAD and CAT software for geometry development, and a PDM system for product data management.
