Kursspecifika förkunskaper
In order to follow the course students must participate in the course Environmental approaches to sustainble building . The course is voluntary.
Syfte
The aim of the studio is to apply the issues of sustainable building into a central architectural assignment. The course is meant both to be a synthesis of the exercises from the studio -Environmental Approaches to Sustainable Building - and a preparation for the competition in the coming studio -Resource efficient building for the future-
Lärandemål (efter fullgjord kurs ska studenten kunna)
- formulate or contribute to a programme with goals about sustainable archticture - design a project fulfilling goals concerning sustainability issues - communicate important issues in a design project
Innehåll
The studio is based on a limited task, for example housing, in which traditional functional aspects are integrated with measures for reaching high environmental performance. The studio consists of three steps: 1) Elaborating an environmental programme from a given functional programme. 2) Elaborating the programme into design proposal. 3) Analysis and reflection. The project is carried out in groups, in which the students exchange pre-knowledge and fulfil different investigations. Teachers and guest critics will assess the studio. The outcome will presented in a report.
Organisation
The number of participants in the studio is limited. As the studio is within the master program Design for sustainable development (MPDSD), students who are admitted to MPDSD will have priority. Show up at the first day of the course. Students not attending the first course day will lose their place and it will be offered to the next in line. Any exceptions from this procedure have to be cleared with the examiner in advance. For further information about admission and registration, please contact Sylvia Pompe at Studentcentrum (sylvia.pompe@chalmers.se).
Litteratur
Literature will be distributed in connection with the exercises
Examination
In order to obtain a pass in this studio the following requirements must be fulfilled. Delivery of the project. Delivery of the final report.
