Behörighet:
För kurser inom Chalmers utbildningsprogram gäller samma behörighetskrav som till de(t) program kursen ingår i.
Kursspecifika förkunskaper
Control theory
Syfte
The course should provide the students with knowledge about different powertrains and their simulation and control, ranging from full hybrid vehicles to traditional powertrains.
Lärandemål (efter fullgjord kurs ska studenten kunna)
After the course the student should be able to: describe the components of an arbitrary powertrain (hybrid and conventional) explain the advantages and disadvantages of a given powertrain explain the influence of powertrain design and its control on powertrain efficiency and emissions derive a control strategy for an arbitrary powertrain and to use this for optimization
Innehåll
The course includes the following: - A thorough description of different powertrain concepts - Components like electrical machines, batteries, alternative combustion engines and mechanical transmission used in a driveline and their properties - General principles of static, quasi-static and dynamic modelling - Model based estimation and control - Methodology for control of energy flows in hybrid vehicles
Organisation
The course is mainly organized as a lecture based course with guest lectures on selected topics. There are assignments where simulations of different powertrains are carried out.
Litteratur
Guzzella & Sciaretta, Vehicle Propulsion Systems, 2nd edition, Springer, 2007, ISBN 978-3-540-74691-1. Additional technical papers and classroom notes are used as supplementary text.
Examination
There is a written final exam. Completed assignments will be a pre-requisite for the exam.
