Students and doctoral students with a scholarship* at Chalmers (hereafter students) are insured during college hours and while travelling directly between their place of residence and the college through Chalmers' agreement with Kammarkollegiet concerning personal injury insurance. The personal injury policy provides basic protection which covers personal injury in the event of an accident and certain cases of illness caused by infectio
 
As a student, you must personally take out accident insurance for the period outside college hours/leisure time and home insurance to obtain comprehensive insurance cover

Insurance for exchange and fee paying students

Inbound exchange students

Inbound exchange students at Chalmers are covered by the Student IN insurance policy. The requirement is that the student must be studying within an exchange agreement, i.e. that an agreement has been established between Chalmers and the foreign University. The insurance is valid 24 hours a day in Sweden and includes limited accident cover, entitlement to reimbursement for health care costs in the event of acute illness or emergency dental care, home transport cover, liability cover and legal protection. Make sure to bring your blue EU card (European Health Insurance Card).

Student IN - Insurance for exchange students in Sweden

Outbound exchange students

Outbound exchange students at Chalmers are covered by a group insurance policy for exchange students, called Student UT. The requirement is that you must be studying within an exchange agreement, i.e. that an agreement has been established between Chalmers and the foreign University. The nsurance is valid 24 hours a day in the country of education as long as you are studying, two weeks before and two weeks after your studies, and during direct travel between your home town and the country of education. The insurance provides personal injury cover and general travel protection and gives excellent basic protection. However, if you wish to take out additional cover, you must arrange it yourself.
 

Shipping and marine technology students are covered by Student UT while on a vessel as part of a course. The insurance is valid 24 hours a day worldwide, except in Sweden. In Sweden the Student insurance applies, see above.

Student UT - Insurance during education abroad

 

Insurance certificate for travels within a course, not exchange students 

Fill in the insurance certificate (pdf-file) below and bring it to the Student Center's information desk at Johanneberg or Lindholmen to get it stamped. You must bring the completed insurance certificate with you during the entire travel.

Feepaying students

Third country students taking a basic or advanced education and paying fees for their education in Sweden are covered by the FAS+ policy. The policy includes accident coverage, illness coverage, dental care, home transport, liability coverage, legal protection and property coverage. The insurance is valid 24 hours a day in the Schengen area with exception of the Property cover in FAS+, which is only valid in Sweden.

How to make a claim

The claim application form can be found via the link in each paragraph above. When you have completed the formcontact the Student Centre to get a confirmation on the form that you are student at Chalmers. The claim is then to be sent to Kammarkollegiet, Studentcentrum will archive a copy. The claim will be carried out by Kammarkollegiet.
