English proficiency:

An applicant to a programme or course with English as language of instruction must prove a sufficient level of English language proficiency. The requirement is the Swedish upper secondary school English course 6 or B, or equivalent. Aim:

The purpose of the Entrepreneurship and Business Design programme is to equip students with skills and tools necessary to create, manage and facilitate technology-based business.

The students shall, after completion of the programme, have a broad knowledge of business design and of entrepreneurship as responsible value creation, and an applied knowledge in their specialization area. This specialization takes place within the framework of the discipline in which the student has been educated, so far.



 

Learning outcome:

After having completed the programme, students should be able to:
1. Construct technology-based business in interplay with complementary competences, thereby integrating technological, economic, managerial and legal capabilities, into innovations, products, ventures and market offerings.
2. Skillfully and reflexively use tools and apply approaches to design and create innovations, such as tools for value discovery, intellectual property packaging, business models enabled by digitalization, product design and techno-economic evaluation
3. Communicate, reflect upon, and manage group dynamics and responsible leadership applied on real-life innovation projects.
4. Reflect around citizenship and entrepreneurship for sustainable development.
5. Analyze, create and manage start-up ventures, internal ventures, or joint ventures (open innovation).

Thesis:

The programme offers either a 60 hec Master's thesis option, or a 30 hec Master's thesis option.

The 60 hec option is intended as an opportunity for the students to, in real life, practice and refine the skills acquired during the first year of the programme. In order to obtain the intentions of the 60 hec thesis a student needs to qualify by having passed mandatory courses and the course Idea Evaluation (TEK217) as well as having an assigned team with a connected real innovation project. More information about different tracks as well as these high-intensity final years can found on www.entrepreneur.chalmers.se.
Apart from the special 60 hec thesis, a student can also conduct a 30 hec thesis that fulfils the programme learning outcome.

In order to conduct a 30 hec thesis work within the field of Intellectual Capital Manangement (ICM) a student need to qualify by having passed relevant mandatory courses

The programme is a part of Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship and therefore also strongly connected with the school's other activities within research and utilization. Drawing upon several years of experience within action-based learning, the programme practices hands-on pedagogy where entrepreneurial capabilities are developed from experience and reflection.

The programme has an alternative selection process, as outlined in Chalmers Admissions Regulations, where applicants are evaluated based on a written application, personal interview and a case exercise.

Career opportunities
Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship produces ''ready-to-fly'' entrepreneurial business leaders in a proportion higher than any other identified educational program that does not require previous working experience. Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship alumni work with business development in primarily three capacities holding roughly one third of the alumni population each:

- Consultants, researchers or innovation advisors
