The course is open to 4th/5th-year students (or students at an equivalent
level) and graduate students with background in physics and mathematics.

Aim

Astroparticle physics is a rapidly growing field of research that embraces
recent developments in astrophysical modelling of the most energetic objects
in the Universe (the Big Bang itself, quasars, gamma ray bursts), fundamental
theories exploring physics of the standard model and beyond (the string
theory), and high-tech techniques in detecting cosmic gamma-rays, neutrinos,
protons, and gravitational waves. Research programs from seemingly very
separate disciplines and from various scientific "cultures" have merged into
a new, truly modern science.

Content

Cosmology, the evolution of the universe, inflationary models,
high energy cosmic rays, neutrino physics, the question of the vacuum.
