MTS course

For single subject courses within Chalmers programmes the same eligibility requirements apply, as to the programme(s) that the course is part of.

The course mainly deals with questions concerning the leaders role. The leaders role in his/her surrounding and methods to practise leadership with this understanding as a base is what the course tries to give the students.
"Chef" is a formal title which does not mean that leadership is what is practised. Leader is the one who is able to lead others and also so does. To be succesful in ones leadership you have to understand yourself in relation to others. The ones you are going to be a leader for have to be confident in you. Leadership/management therefore is not only a question about knowing what you want but even more something that has to do with psychology and relations. This is what this course is about.

The course contains three parts
- Lectures emphasizing the human and relational consequenses when conducting leadership
- Casework in team - conflict solving work
- Individual session with the course leader. Aim - deepened understanding of own personality and it s effect on communication with and relations to others.

Maximum participants - 30. Students from other programmes than Electrical Engineering at Chalmers are only admitted if places are available.

Literature is presented when the course starts.

- Seminars around the literature. More details are presented when the course starts.
- Individual session with the course leader. The aim is to develop a plan about developing a personality to reach higher skill in leadership.
- Case work in team - conflict in an organization - searching relevant
information - suggesting relevant changes in relation to the conflict.
Grading: Pass/Fail.
