Aim

The aim of this course is to provide the student an adequate level of understanding of all the aspects of design, operation, protection and control of electric power systems.

Content

The course treats the large-scale transmission and distribution of electrical energy. Tools are developed to model the main components in a power system, such as transmission lines, transformers and generators. Power flows in small networks are determined using different methods. Load flows in large networks are analysed by admittance matrix calculations and algorithms. The angular instability of large systems and the means to maintain stability will be another topic.
