Course specific prerequisites
A basic course in signals and systems. Knowledge of C-programming and Matlab is most useful!
Aim
The purpose of the course is to show how digital signal procesing (DSP) is used in practical applications. You will learn to use computer-based tools for signal processing in "batch-mode" (Matlab) as well as in real-time. The focus is on problem solving, and the theory is mostly summarized. After completing the course you should be able to choose and implement suitable algorithms for meeting given demands in, for example, a complex measurement situation.
You should also be able to see how the methods can be used in novel application areas.
Content
Short repetition of signals and systems basics. The Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), window functions and spectral analysis. Digital FIR and IIR filter design. Wiener filtering and adaptive (self-learning) filters. Multirate signal processing, decimation, interpolation and digital filter banks. Finite word-length effects
