Examiner:
Professor Jaap Daalder
Eligibility:
For single subject courses within Chalmers programmes the same eligibility requirements apply, as to the programme(s) that the course is part of.
Aim
The aim of this course is to provide the students with a basic understanding and with practical experience of power quality phenomena and electromagnetic compatibility between supply and equipment.
Content
The course deals with power quality phenomena and electromagnetic compatibility between supply and equipment. Causes, measurements methods, characterization and mitigation of four main power quality phenomena are studied in the course. These phenomena are harmonics, voltage dips, flicker and transients. In addition, the subject on supply interruption and reliability will also be treated.
Organisation
Lectures, project work. Project work concentrates on practical aspects of power quality, like measurement methods and characterization. The project work includes laboratory experiments where the students gain a practical understanding of the concepts related to power quality and compatibility between supply and equipment.
