Eligibility:

For single subject courses within Chalmers programmes the same eligibility requirements apply, as to the programme(s) that the course is part of.

Course specific prerequisites

A basic course in mechanics such as for F, M, E, D or I is required. One of the courses Continuums mechanics and fluid dynamics for F or Basic fluid mechanics for M would suite well.

Aim

The aim of the course is to give basic understandning of the following aspects of air crafts: design, performance, general behavior in the air and construction.

Content

Short introduction to airfoils with rudder and lift devices. Equilibrium equations at different flight conditions, stability, performance analysis, normal and abnormal maneuves. principles for construction, construction material and considerations about structural integrity. Problems to be solved aimed to illustrate the content of the lectures applied to concrete cases. Further illustrations are given in the field.
