Eligibility:

Aim
The course is an advancement and continuation of Technical Acoustics 1. The course gives the students the opportunity to apply the theoretical frame that was given in Technical Acoustics 1 to real life problems.
Goal
The students practice the application of different computational approaches such as FEM, BEM, SEA or modal/wave approach. The students should be able to design and implement models, evaluate the results of models towards measurements and to conclude on the physical meaning of the obtained results.
Content
The course focuses on analytical and numerical methods for describing vibrations and structure fluid interaction.
It includes the application of
Wave approach
Finite Element Mehtods
Statistical Energy Analysis
Boundary Element Methods
to a real life structure.
The application and functioning of the methods is validated by measurements results which are provided by the teachers.
In a final work noise reduction measures have to be designed where also vibration isolation and its application is included.
The suggested measures are implemented and experimentally validated.
Organisation
The course consists of laboratory work where the participants examine a specially formulated problem (for example the generation of sound from a structure excited by a motor). The work results in three written reports.
The cours takes place during quarter 3 and quarter 4

Material produced by the department as well as recommended literature.
Examination
To pass the course a final report which discusses the specially formulated problem and the possi-bilities to reduce the noise and vibration is required.
