Aim

The aim of the course is to expose the student to various practical aspects of electric power engineering through real-life experiments, simulation tools and software.

Content

This course will expose the students to various experimental methods in electric power engineering. It will include hands-on experience in various laboratories such as, the high voltage lab, power systems lab, power electronics lab and the electrical machine lab, covering the broad area of electrical power engineering. The emphasis will be on the following: measurement techniques, data acquisition systems, statistical analysis of measurements, error analysis, A/D conversion, etc.

Organisation

The course is organized with lectures and two extensive laboratory projects.

Compendium " Experimental Methods" by Torbjörn Thiringer and Jörgen Blennow, handouts.

Examination

Written examination. In addition a laboratory project must have been conducted and a report written and approved.
