Basic physics and maths courses
Aim
Neutron Physics concerns the study of free neutrons, their generation as well as use within various measurement techniques. The emphasis is on the type of neutron physics that has direct technical applications. The course has an experimental character.
The aim of the course is to give insight into the modern measurement methods of neutron physics and their applications in industry, research and medical sciences.
Content
The basic properties of the neutron and the atomic nucleus.
Organisation
Lectures. In the course a visit to the research reactor in Studsvik is organized. Three laborations at the department + one litterature study with an oral presentation is also included in the course.
Literature
Compendium that is sold by the department.
Examination
To pass the course, written laboration reports, two written exercises and a litterature study with oral presentation are required. För higher grades, an additional oral exam is also required.
