Aim

Att effektivt kunna söka information samt kritiskt värdera och analysera de funna informationskällorna har blivit en allt viktigare kunskap i takt med att både informationsmängden och tillgängligheten ökat. Detta är en kunskap, som inte bara behövs under studietiden utan även i den framtida yrkesrollen.

Goal

Målsättningen är att kursdeltagarna skall få bättre förståelse för publicerings- och informationssökningsprocessen, få kunskap om litteratursökningsmetodik och sökteknik, få bättre kunskap att utföra informationssökningar samt kritiskt granska informationen.

Content

The course deals with scholarly communication, sources for scientific information, search strategies and reference writing. The students get hands-on training in information retrieval within a specific subjact area.

Organisation

The course is intended to be taken in connection to Project work F. The course consists of an introduction lecture on the structure of scientific publication and a compulsory workshop at the library, different information resources are presented and search technique and reference writing are discussed.

Literature

Course material will be distributed at the workshop.

Examination

Participation in the workshop and a written report.
