Aim

The purpose of this course is to describe the new, important methods being industrially used today. By mixing lectures and many practical features like laboratory work and company visits, the course strives to give you knowledge of everything from practical problems which arises in manufacturing to theoretical question in preparation and production development. After the course you should be confident with trends in development in both traditional and untraditional manufacturing methods.

Content

The course Manufacturing-up-to-date describes the modern and industrially used manufacturing methods of today. This course is based on the knowledge gained in the preceding course MPR093 in basic manufacturing engineering.

2. Basic and Modern sheet metal forming methods
3. Modern cutting tools
4. Precision machining - machine construction, grinding, High Pressure Cooling, hard turning and honing
5. High speed machining & milling strategy
6. Chemical and electrochemical methods
7. Waterjet & Ultra Sonic Machining
8. Thermal methods: Laser, plasma, EDM and EBM

Course binder, assembled by the department. The binder contains a variety of information sources. Written theory is mixed with scientific articles to get both the basics and the ongoing evelopment of the different manufacturing methods. The binder is sold at Chalmers bookstore Cremona.
