Bitr professor  Anders Ekberg

Eligibility:

For single subject courses within Chalmers programmes the same eligibility requirements apply, as to the programme(s) that the course is part of.

Aim

The concepts of load, deformation, strain and stress are defined and
explained. The behaviour of components and structures under mechanical (and thermal) loading is analyzed. Fundamental engineering problems are solved using methods of solid mechanics. This includes analysis of predefined structures as well as design of new structures. Further, a
goal of the course is to provide a broad (although shallow) theoretical knowledge of therminology, methods, limitations and mechanisms of solid mechanics.
