Content
The course gives humanitarian and economical aspects of biomedical engineering. It provides an overview of the biomedical engineering field from a system-oriented perspective, primarily in clinical diagnostics using examples from radiology, clinical physiology, clinical chemistry, and pediatric care. Principles and techniques used in electro-physiological measurement equipment is analyzed, designed, and verified. The course provides generic engineering technology for modeling and analysis of biological systems.
Most electronic equipment for biomedical use comprises sensors, amplifiers, and instruments for storage and presentation of the signal. Aspects of these units and their usage for various medical disciplines are discussed; examples are given for a few sensors, amplifiers for registration of electro-physiological processes as well as some instruments displaying the result.
Some state-of-the-art applications are discussed with invited experts in seminars. A practical part of the course is the design and verification of electronics for electro-physiological registrations.

Examination
To pass (grade 3) the hand-in problems must be solved, the laboration and project presented. For grade 4 and 5, a written exam is required.
