Course specific prerequisites

The course is open only to students that follow the study profile "Systemutveckling".


The course gives knowledge about the latest research and techniques in software and systems engineering. Its aim is to show that the area is under development and that many of the methods proposed are not yet fully accepted. The course shall encourage critical thinking and show the students where they can find information about research and development in the field.


The course gives
- insight in the Software Engineering Methods used by the local companies by guest lectures,
- insight in the research in the area performed at the department,
- insight in the broad area of software engineering by writing and presentating a paper on a chose subject and participating at the other students presentations.


Two series of seminars.
- One featuring representants from the local companies.
- One where the students present papers that they write as a compilation from at least three scientific papers.
The students are expected to attend all of the seminars.


Recent research papers on System Engineering. Students also search and select papers for their assignment.


Each student shall write an essay, give a seminar, and participate in other seminars.
