Eligibility:


In order to be eligible for a second cycle course the applicant needs to fulfil the general and specific entry requirements of the programme that owns the course. (If the second cycle course is owned by a first cycle programme, second cycle entry requirements apply.)
Exemption from the eligibility requirement: Applicants enrolled in a programme at Chalmers where the course is included in the study programme are exempted from fulfilling these requirements.

Qualification for the master programme.

Aim

The aim of the course is to give the possibility to catch problems and topics of immediate interest that are not covered in the programme. The aim is to widen the perspectives, train innovative and explorative methods and tools and implement them into a project.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

Refer to current theories in architectural theories
Refer to current problems and trends in practice that call for a widened architectural competence
Ability to plan an explorative project
Ability to conduct an explorative project
Develop skills in research by design
Ability to reflect and draw conclusions of an explorative project

Content

The contents will vary over the years. It could be a relevant student competition, a contribution to a public discussion about architecture, an exploration in innovative architecture etc.

Organisation

The course is given if a sufficient number of students register. The initiative may come from students as well as teachers. The course will contain lectures, literature studies, exercises, a project and final reflections-conclusions.

Examination including compulsory elements

Participation in the course and exercises. Deliveries of sufficient quality of exercises, project, reflections and conclusions.
