Course specific prerequisites

Anyone with general and special eligibility may take the course. The course is also available in a PhD version (please contact the course administrative for information). People who do not partificate in the course may attend lectures provided they give notice in advance.

Aim

This course offers participats knowledge and training related to the creating and development of science based ventures.

The following topics will be covered in the lectures (may change slightly):

* Business idea and business model.
* The customer perspective, target market, competition and profitability.
* Patents, patent strategy and "who owns an idea?"
* The business plan
* Market strategy
* Profit estimating

Organisation

3 credits spread across periods 1, 2 and 3 (see course memo for exact dates). The course comprises the corresponding topics covered in step 1 and 2 in the Venture Cup business plan competition.

Literature

The Venture Cup handbook is compulsory, any extra literature will be presented at the start of the course.

Examination

Examination through a completed business plan proposition at the end of the course, and compulsory attendace at lectures.
