Aim

The aim of this course is to delve into the real advanced part of the technology already used or planned to be used in the Internet.

Content

Since the Internet technology is developing very rapidly the contents of the course need to be flexible and adjust to some extent to the "hot topics" each time the course is given.
Important areas: Mobile IP, IP in radio based environments.
Traffic in large networks, MPLS, traffic engineering.
Quality of Service (QoS), IntServ, DiffServ.
Performance.
Routing problems. Design of networks, reliability, availability, convergence time, replication, diversity.
Security, spamming, denial-of-service attacks, CERTs.
Current state-of-the-art issues.

Organisation

The course contains a lecture series followed by a written exam.
