Eligibility:

In order to be eligible for a first cycle course the applicant needs to fulfil the general and specific entry requirements of the programme(s) that has the course included in the study programme.

Aim

The course is one element in the development of mathematical competence and knowledge of students in the Engineering physics programme.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

To provide knowledge of basic algebraic concepts like vectors, matrices, determinantes, complex numbers and polynoms. The course should also give skills in the solution of linear equation systems and determinants.

Content

Systems of linear equations.
Vectors in 2- and 3-dimensional space.
Dot and cross products with applications to 3-d geometry.
Matrix algebra, determinants.
Geometry in Rn and the least square method.
Complex numbers.
Algebraic equations.
