The purpose of the course is to give knowledge and proficiency in:
- deviving mathematical models of technical systems
- the possibilities and limitations of feedback systems
- the applications of basic analysis and synthesis control methods


Introduction: Examples of control problems, dynamic systems, open loop- and feedback control, feedback and stability, models, application examples.

Mathematical description of linear dynamic systems: Differentialequations, Laplacetransform, transfer functions, state space models, linearization, physical modelling.

Analysis of feedback systems: stability, Routh-Hurwitz and Nyquist's criteria for stability, stability margins, sensitivity, low- and high frequency behaviour.

Design of control systems: the possibilities and limitations of feedback systems, specifications, controller synthesis (PID-control, lead/lag-compensation), controller structures.

Digital controllers: digitalization of analogous control functions, PID-control, aliasing, analysis of digital control systems.
