Qualification for the master programme..


This course gives an overview of Nordic and especially Swedish architecture and town planning from the 1930s till today with special emphasis on its social and cultural context.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- Characterize Nordic architecture and town planning from the 1930s till today with focus on contemporary architecture.


The course gives an overview of architecture in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden as well as comparative views on Nordic culture and Nordic architecture.


The course is based on lectures, seminars, excursions and literature. Some lectures are given by invited guests from the other Nordic countries. A one week trip to one of four Nordic countries is included.
