Aim

The students shall obtain knowledge of facts and methods of the processes of planning and designing. We will use and discuss concepts fundamental for the processes of programming and design, in early stages of new design situations as well as changes of existing buildings.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

At the end of this course the students shall be able to
- take place in a multi-disciplinary team of building-design
- Take the first step in construction briefing
- Describe the basic processes of planning and building and use the concepts
- Communicate with other actors in the planning processes in a professional way

In this course the generic skills of Communication and visualization, oral and in written will be trained.

Content

A design-exercise will give opportunities to practice and discuss concepts and to use different techniques for briefing and design work, where also the roles of management may be tested. Facts of different prerequisites will be presented in lectures and practiced in design-exercise.
Urban development and processes in urban planning will also be presented and discussed.

Organisation

The education consists of lectures and seminars and a design-exercise.
