Course specific prerequisites
You must have studied at least 30 hec of electric power courses at advanced level (MPEPO courses or comparable), and be fluent in the Swedish language.
Aim
This course aims at providing theoretical knowledge and skills in
applying Swedish law, statutes, ordinances, directions, standards, instructions
etc on electric power installations which is required for the electric-power
engineer intending to apply at The Swedish National Electrical Safety Board for
authorization to work as a professional electrical contractor. Further, the
course also aims at providing training in creativity and cooperation in a
project team when dealing with problems related to applied electric
installations.
Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
- plan a large electrical distribution system
- perform calculations on electrical installations
- elaborate electrical installation circuit drawings
- describe modern principles for electrical installations and equipment used
- apply effective laws and statutes within related to electrical installations and work environment
- work in team and together solve different practical problems related to electrical installations
- present obtained project results in a written report as well as present and defend the results at an oral presentation
Content
Electrical installations:
- electrical installation equipment, electrical installation calculations (loadability, voltage drop, tripping conditions), electrical installation drawings, regulations for electrical installations
Statutes for electrical installations:
- study of laws and statutes: law of work environment and its applications, laws for electrical installations within the EU, the Swedish National Electricity Safety Boards Regulations regarding design and erection of electrical installations and general advice when applying these regulations
- design of a electrical distributions system for a quater of a city as well as for an industrial plant

Written examination, grades: U (failed) or G (passed) (80% correct ansvers is reguired to pass the exam). Written and oral presentations of project tasks. Participation in study visit.
