- Good programming skills in Java.
- Knowledge in OOA/D and UML.
- Elementry datastructures and algorithms.
- Elementary datacommunications.
Courses DAT050, DAT055, LET375, LEU061 or equivalent.

Aim

The aim of the course is to give students a broad introduction to distrubuted applications like e-commerce sites.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

Design and implement a basic distributed application.

Content

The course will introduce a number of technologies used
in distributed applications;
-- XML technologies (DOM/XMLSchema/XSLT/XPath e.t.c.).
-- HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX.
-- Java enterprise edition; Servlets, Java Server Pages, Java Server Faces, Java Persistence API, Java Enterprise Beans, Web services --Design and general issues will be discussed;
- Sessionhandling, navigation, persistency, e.t.c.
- installation and configuration.
- information retreival (specifications, manuals). Hands-on workshops exercising client and server side tasks.
