The government has decided that with effect from July 1, 2007 Chalmers will be permitted to award the following degrees. (Government decisions U2006/9375/UH, U2007/4718/UH).

General qualifications

First cycle qualifications:

Higher Education Diploma

Bachelor of Science

Second cycle qualifications:

Master of Science (60 credits)

Master of Science (120 credits) *

Third cycle qualifications:

Licentiate

Doctor of Philosophy


Professional qualifications

There are some qualifications that leads to a specific profession, for example architect or engineer. In many cases, you must have completed a specific programme, often five years at Chalmers, to be licensed to work in your profession. These qualifications are called professional qualifications.


The professional degrees Master of Architecture/Arkitektexamen and Master of Science in Engineering/Civilingenjör, 300 credits, are awarded to students completing a five-year programme at Chalmers. In exceptional cases a student with a bachelor’s degree from another university may be eligible for one of these professional degrees after a thorough assessment of the academic merits by the Director of Studies.

First cycle qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering

Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering

Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science

Second cycle qualifications:

Master of Architecture

Master of Science in Engineering

Degree of Master of Science in Secondary Education

with a Specialization in Teaching in the Upper-secondary School
