Aim:

Engineering Physics combines an engineering education with an academic education in physics and mathematics. It is founded on a scientific basis, and is characterized by susceptibility and critical reasoning.

The aim of the programme Engineering Physics is that all students acquire a solid base in mathematics, in theoretical and experimental physics, as well as in technology, and an ability to use these tools in order to formulate, model, analyze, solve and communicate problems within physics and physics-based technology, alone and in collaboration with others. The last two years of studies are intended to be an intensification and a specialization within areas in which the students have acquired basic knowledge during the first three years of studies.

The programme aims at meeting the demands of industry and academia as regards specialists as well as generalists with very good knowledge of mathematics and science, also with very goof capacity for problem solving and for quick acquirement and developing of new knowledge.

 

Learning outcome:

A person with a degree from Engineering Physics is to be an expert at problem solving, with the ability to read and understand advanced literature within some area of science or technology, and possessing an awareness of the professional demands in industry or academia, and of the interaction of technology with society, culture and environment.

Title of degree:

Master of Science in Engineering (300 credits). The name of the Master's programme and the main field of study, Engineering Physics, are stated in the degree certificate. After the first cycle/undergraduate level, you may apply for the degree Bachelor of Science 180 credits, major subject Engineering Physics or Mathmatics.

Advancement regulations

In order to commence the second year, 37,5 cr. are demanded. In order to commence the third year, a total of 82,5 cr. is demanded, of which at least 37,5 cr. shall be from the second year. At least 150 cr. must be attained in order to commence a master's programme.

Students who do not meet the above requirements shall contact the student guidance counsellor of the programme, in order to make an individual study plan.

Människa, teknik, samhälle (MTS)

For an engineering degree all students must have at least a course of 7.5 credits within MTS, i.e. within the interaction of technology and human society. There is list of courses, recognized as suitable by the university.

Environmental studies

The compulsory programme courses must contain at least 7.5 credits within environmental studies.
