Eligibility
General entry requirements for bachelor's level (first cycle) Applicants enrolled in a programme at Chalmers where the course is included in the study programme are exempted from fulfilling the requirements above.
Specific entry requirements
The same as for the programme that owns the course. Applicants enrolled in a programme at Chalmers where the course is included in the study programme are exempted from fulfilling the requirements above.
Course specific prerequisites
Building Physics or corresponding course
Aim
The course is an introduction to room and building acoustics. Room acoustics deal with the acoustic characteristics of spaces and the interacting human experiences of sound, as well as how functional demands can be formulated for different sound environments. Building acoustics deal with external noise, how building design concepts can be used to prevent the spread of noise, as well as functional demands for soundproofing. The course provides basic concepts, relationships and analytical methods with the overall aim of providing tools for making acoustic assessments and design choices in the early stages of an architects and/or engineers design process.
Examination including compulsory elements
The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
