Buildings functions and design
Aim
This course is a continuation of the CAD part in the course BOM205 Buildings functions and design. The purpose of this course is to give the student further professional abilities to produce, manage, analyze and communicate Building Information Models (BIM), and apply basic programming to support information delivery, flow and efficient work processes in the construction sector. This knowledge is the basis and applied later in the educational program in different courses.
Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
After completing the course the student should be able to:
- Applying BIM-tools to refine models and drawings with the aim of producing detailed drawings for the detailed design stage.
- Interpret, explain and understand the importance of setting requirements on information delivery around the BIM.
- Apply basic programming to support efficient information delivery, flows and work surrounding BIM.
Content
The focus will mainly be on BIM-tools and how they can be applied to support information delivery, flows and work processes within the construction sector. Students will perform computer exercises and work tasks linked to applications that produce, manage, analyze and communicate using BIM.
Organisation
The course includes lectures, exercises, compulsory tasks. Lectures provides the theoretical background which is applied in computer exercises and tasks.
Literature
Tutorial videos, educational materials and literature will be shared and posted on the course website.
Examination including compulsory elements
The student have to conduct assignments and exercises that take place during the course.
The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
