Eligibility:

In order to be eligible for a first cycle course the applicant needs to fulfil the general and specific entry requirements of the programme(s) that has the course included in the study programme.

Aim

The aim is to give basic knowledge about analysis, design and management of industrial production systems under the conditions of fulfilling technical, economical and social demands.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

  • Explain, based on value rationality, the interplay between the technical, organizational and interpersonal variables to provide high efficiency.
  • Analyze and design production systems for goods and services from a socio-technical perspective which includes safety, efficacy, group-based systems, motivation, ethical considerations and social sustainable development.
  • Managing and streamlining industrial production systems.
  • Carry out production and product processing. 
  • Propose new forms of organization and production concepts.

Content

The course comprises the following aspects:
  • Basic organizational theory,
  • Sociotechnical theory,
  • Analysis and design of production systems,
  • Job design,
  • Leadership,
  • New forms of work organization,
  • Lean Production.

    Organisation

    The course is based on a concept where the students are encouraged to take at great deal of responsible for their learning. This is done by use of cases which are closely related to the literature. Some very important parts are supported with external lectures.

    Examination including compulsory elements

    All kind of education can be examined. The examination is carried out by written tests and a Case work.
