Aim

The overall aim of the course is to provide knowledge of how linear programming can be used to solve managerial decision problems in different types of operations.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- use basic economic terminology in a managerial context
- use linear programming to model common managerial decision and optimisation problems
- use computer software to solve and analyse linear programming models

Content

- Introduction to managerial economics
- Linear programming
- Mixed integer programming
- Linearisation of nonlinear models
- Sensitivity analysis

Organisation

The course comprises a series of lectures, consultations, and tutorials.
