Eligibility:

In order to be eligible for a first cycle course the applicant needs to fulfil the general and specific entry requirements of the programme(s) that has the course included in the study programme.

Aim

The course aim is to provide basic understanding in economic functions, terms and theories and to impart theoretical and practical knowledge about managerial economics. The course also aims to prepare participation in a case-related work.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- Describe economic terms, break-even analysis, product calculation, investment calculus and budget

-Utilize the above mentioned skills for analyse, valuation and improvement of operation management


 

Content

Economic terms incl. break-even analysis, product calculus investment calculus and budget.


 

Organisation

The course content consists of lectures and exercises. Students also carry aut a project. The lectures introduce and exemplify essential terms and theoretical models. The exercises are used to deepen the basic understanding of the theoretical models and to provide the students with skill sets.

Examination

The course is examined by written examination. The grades are set based on the result of the written examination and on the project report. Grades U (=failed), 3-5 are used.
