Eligibility:


In order to be eligible for a second cycle course the applicant needs to fulfil the general and specific entry requirements of the programme that owns the course. (If the second cycle course is owned by a first cycle programme, second cycle entry requirements apply.)
Exemption from the eligibility requirement: Applicants enrolled in a programme at Chalmers where the course is included in the study programme are exempted from fulfilling these requirements.

Course specific prerequisites

MPP056 Sketching and modelling Techniques (or similar), PPU220 Sketching and Presentation Techniques (or similar).

Aim

To further develop skills to sketch and create 3D visual product forms in vector and pixel based software¿s showcasing an increased knowledge of visual perception and of product renderings. Furthermore the course aims to deepen the knowledge of how to work with graphical designs effectively in order to make sharp product presentations.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

  • Draw pictures with the use of digital sketching boards or similar
  • Evolve drawings by alternating between different digital working tools
  • Create and apply various techniques of sketching with digital tools and show ideas in form of artwork intended for presentations
  • Create and work with graphic presentations using vector graphics, text and pixelated pictures
  • Present clear illustrations/artworks graphically for final product presentations

Content

The course includes lectures and supervision, applying of examples, workshops and experiments with products and materials. The creative work will be done with software¿s that handles vector graphics, text and pixelated images. Sketches will be made by digital sketching boards or similar.

Organisation

The course includes lectures and course assignments that provide the opportunity to develop and deepen the understanding of given topics.

Examination

Grades are given according to the scale: pass/fail.

The grade consists of three compulsory parts: Attendance and active participation (20% of the grade), Assignments (60% of the grade), Portfolio (20% of the grade).
