Leave of absence from studies

A leave of absence from studies is granted for one semester or one year at a time and means that you take a break from your studies. If you are granted a leave of absence from studies you keep your place on the programme. When you return to your studies you continue according to your original programme syllabus, provided that the programme has not changed, and that you meet the prerequisites for forthcoming courses.

A leave of absence from studies can be granted after one semester of studies on the programme to which you have been admitted. The precondition for leave of absence from studies is that you have claimed your study place.

During your leave of absence from studies you are responsible for reading your Chalmers email, information from the programme and from Chalmers. When you plan to return it is important that you select courses for the upcoming semester. You may not register for new courses during your leave, but you are entitled to do re-examinations or improve a grade.
