Examiners

The head of department or deputy head of department shall appoint one or several examiners for each subject. Examiners have a comprehensive responsibility for doctoral studies in a subject. A professor or other teacher qualified as associate professor may be appointed as examiner.

Examiners shall have a permanent association with Chalmers. Examiners shall approve doctoral students' individual syllabuses, and shall participate in monitoring their studies. Examiners shall also preview licentiate papers and doctoral theses.

Further to consultation with the supervisor, examiners shall determine when 50 percent of the doctoral studies have been completed and that the doctoral student has achieved the goals for a licentiate degree.
