Extension of employment period beyond five years
The employment may be extended for a certain period of time beyond five years if acceptable grounds exist. With regard to statutory leave (illness, parental leave, etc.), the employment may be extended by the corresponding period of time should the doctoral student so request. The decision is based on that the leave should not have prevented the PhD student from pursuing their studies. Before such extension can be granted, the doctoral student and the head supervisor must together prepare a plan for the continued research studies. The head of department shall decide extensions of the employment period.
