Sakari Tolvanen-The effect of material variability on weldability of Ti-6Al-4V

​Fabricating large aeroengine components through welding them out of smaller subcomponents instead of machining them from large single piece castings provides several benefits. Fabrication requires joining of subcomponents which is why welding and properties of welds have been investigated. In the present work the effect of variation in chemical composition in weldability of Ti-6Al-4V alloy has been investigated. The topic is of great industrial interest due to the possibility to improve the properties of welded structures from both performance and economical point of view.
